Information
The Regular Course (Course Code: KR) is a five-level General English
course designed specifically for university staff members. Each level
runs for 18 weeks, five days a week, Mondays through Fridays. Classes
start at 7.30 A.M. and ends at 10.20 A.M.
Course Date
The next available course (KR-21) will run from August 9 to December 10,
1999.

Fee
The course fee for the Basic,
Preparatory and
Intermediate levels
is as follows:

Placement
Registration
Date: May 3 - June 19, 1999. Mondays - Saturdays, 8 A.M. - 1 P.M.

Requirements:
Candidates should:

Placement
Test
The placement test consists of two sub-tests: Oral
Interview and written
test.
Oral
Interview (about 10 minutes)
This test assesses the candidates' fluency and accuracy in the use of
spoken English.
Written
Test
This sub-test consists of three components: Listening,
Grammar and
Reading.

The
Listening Component assesses the candidates' competence in
discriminating English speech sounds. It consists of 100 questions
and runs for about 10 minutes.

The
Grammar Component assesses the candidates' competence in the use of
English grammatical structures. It also consists of 100 questions to
be completed in 50 minutes.

The
Reading Component assesses the candidates' proficiency and skills in
reading and understanding various text types with general and
academic topics.
The
results of the placement test will then be used to determine the course
level the candidates should take.
Announcement of
Placement Test Results
The results of the Placement Test will be posted on the notice board at
the PPB Building (first floor) on July 3, 1999.
Course Registration
As seats for each course level are quite limited, registration should be
done promptly after the announcement of the placement test results by
the candidate him/herself and cannot be represented by someone else. It
therefore cannot be done collectively.
Registration
Dates:
July 5 - July 17, 1999. Mondays through Saturdays during office hours.
Candidates who have taken the Placement Test and been assigned a level
are required to register for the course as early as possible. Candidates
who do not register for the course at the given dates will be considered
as resigning from it.
If a candidate registers after the maximum number of students for a
level is reached, s/he will be put on the waiting list and will be
notified later if s/he is accepted for the level s/he registers.

in a letter of permit from their respective superiors (e.g. their
rectors or faculty deans)

in two 3 X 4 cm photographs
-
pay
for the given course fee (see the Course
Fee section)
Course
Cancellation
If the minimum number of students for a level (i.e. 15 students) cannot
be reached, the Center has the rights to cancel the course without any
obligation whatsoever to provide ganti rugi. However, it is obliged to
reimburse all the fees the candidates have paid to the Center. To be
entitled to any reimbursement, candidates should show a receipt of
payment signed by the Center's treasurer.
