Well, I've managed to change the coding which enables me to at least administer the site (including up-dating the 'News' on the main forum page.) So far, touch wood, I have not had a single error message - but I honestly don't expect it to last. No doubt I'll find out when I try to post this note. No worries, previewed, amended and posted it without bother. If there is nothing below it means that the 'modify funtion' worked correctly.

Well, I've been banging around on here for over 30 minutes without a single problem! I know, I know, I shouldn't have said that.

Whoopee, Dummy! For the information of members and guests, who undoubtedly would not have a clue as to who you are, Dummy is the instigator/overseer of a version of YaBB (this type of forum) which is easy to install and is specifically tailored for the Tripod hosting system. He, along with administrators of various sites, has been badgering Tripod to correct our problems. Three cheers for Dummy.... Hip hip..... HOORAY! Hip hip..... HOORAY! Hip hip..... HOORAY! Thank you!

TESTING - I THOUGHT I'D FIXED IT! Well, I did, but now we've got posting problems.... 'aarrgh'. Sorry, all. It's all to do with Tripod (our host) changing their server system.

Right, this is a test to see if the darn board writes first time now! Sorry for all the kerfuffle. Hopefully we'll have a nice smooth run from heron in (who's holding their breath). Good luck to us all.

This isn't a grumble, but probably 1 in every 2 times I visit the site and try to navigate somewhere I get this message: It looks like there was an error: Internal CGI-Server Error Interested in creating your own homepage? Tripod, a Lycos® Network site, provides the best personal and commercial publishing tools available on the Net. Just click here and start building your premier homepage! Click here to return to Tripod. It doesn't bother me at all, its all part of the fun, however other potential users may be put off by this constant message and consequently may not revisit the board.

Indeed, Perthbound; trouble is there is nothing I can do about it until Tripod tells us poor site holders what they've done to us! We have only a 'small' site here, I'd hate to be running a very active one - it'd really knock around the membership. I'm sorry, but my hands really are tied at the moment. Unfortunately I cannot just pick up the site and drop it on another service as, due to Tripod's systems and requirements, a significant amount of the coding is Tripod specific. I can assure you that it is embarrassing and that I really appreciate everyone's patience. Hopefully I'll get it sorted soon, but no promises.

I've been rattling around on here for around an hour now, without one single CGI error having popped up. I do hope that I am not speaking too soon. Yesterday I spent all afternoon and until 10:00pm setting up another site on another server - wouldn't you know it! It's about half done too. No, I'm not really complaining. I did have the odd problem with it and it still needs some bugs ironing out. I might continue with it, as time permits, and (if I can get it operating properly) transfer across should Tripod get the yips again. I'll see how things go. I again thank you all for your patience to date. P.S. @ 02:19 GMT The new site is now up and running. It is a basic form of this site - but missing polls, extra smilies and a few other bits and pieces. If you want to have a look at it the address is: http://bwfcdu.netfirms.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi Don't worry about the fact that there is only one 'board' there at the moment, that's easily rectified - a matter of only a minute or three. I may try to keep it alive as a 'reserve' for times when Tripod gives us grief, otherwise I'd have to transfer all the data from here, issue new passwords etc. You might all let me know your thoughts, keeping in mind that to bring the other site up to this one's specs will take some time and effort? 03:04 GMT: Added boards to make the new site look more like it 'should'
