Bye Bye European Pie

Three games to play. The Champion League is now a dream; European representation (the Wafer Cup) is still a chance if we pull up our socks. Draws against Soton and Villa have seen to that. We have Chelsea, Portsmouth and Everton to play - hardly an easy run in to the end of the season. The only reasonable light is that Chelsea and Everton are both home games. A lot now depends on how we play against Chelsea next weekend. I think we've got a good chance of three points and a very good chance of one. These are our recent home game results and Chelsea's away results. Be careful - Chelsea's had some weak teams of late in their away games. Bolton Home Games: 01-02-05 'Spurs ... 1-0 12-02-05 'Boro ... 0-0 19-02-05 Norwich ... 1-0 09-04-05 Fulham ... 3-1 19-04-05 Southampton ... 1-1 Chelsea Away Games: 02-02-05 Blackburn ... 0-1 12-02-05 Everton ... 0-1 05-03-05 Norwich ... 1-3 02-04-05 Southampton ... 1-3 Both teams have reasonable defensive set ups, whilst Chelsea has, probably, a better attacking/scoring crew. I'm going for our backs to hold 'em and let a loose one through. Diouf and Speed (again) to score. 2-1 to us.

Ah well, the CL disappeared pretty quickly BUT we now are assured of a UEFA spot. I'd like us to finish in sixth (or fifth - but I can't see that happening) so that others cannot say that we were lucky. Roll on Everton and a win.
