Comments:  I couldn't agree more. Actually, sometimes I wish I owned a banjo just so I could play that song on it. Do you happen to know the chords to the bridge? I've actually wanted to ask you about the chords in this song before. I still have a hard time with chords chock full 'o notes. I'm always mistaking inversions and sixths and major 7ths for one another.

Comments:  It makes me happy to hear that you feel the same way! It's such a beautiful song, snuck in where you'd least expect it. I wish Jim Henson had written it -- his birthday is the same as mine, by the way -- but it was by two guys named Paul Williams (music) and Kenny Ascher (lyrics). (For a second I thought Kenny Ascher was the guy who did lyrics for Pet Sounds, but that was Paul Asher. Kind of funny, since there's something very similar between "Rainbow Connection" and some of the stuff on Pet Sounds.) By the way, Henson apparently performed it live on the 1980 Grammies, which I'd love to see.

So, the chords to the bridge! This'll be a little tricky because I can't use the poundsign (it breaks my comment script -- I need to fix that), so I'll just write "sharp":

A | E/G-sharp (i.e. an E chord with a G-sharp in the bass) | F-sharp minor | A/E | D | A/C-sharp | E7sus4 | F7sus4 | F7

And then the verse comes back, up a whole tone in B-flat. I'm transcribing these, btw, from the copy here, which does some weird edits on the intro but which seems otherwise OK.

Comments:  Something weird is going on with this particular comments page -- it doesn't seem to want to add any comments. (I'm manually editing the text file to add this one here.) Strange, the others seem normal.
