Date: 05:23:16 A.M., June 30, 2001 Name: scottbot Email address: scottaaea@aol.com Comments: this is going to be horribly off-topic and probably inappropriate, but it will also prove the fastest way to get a response. :) anyway, did you ever hear low's _the exit papers ep_? i was prowling around at fakejazz.com just now and came across a review which served to remind me of its existence. i remember reading talk on the list of it not being any good, but perhaps that's a good sign as you know very well that the list and i don't exactly see eye-to-eye. have you heard it? if so, what do you think? i've just realized i have something 'on-topic' to add. i have some of the alleged 'pygmalion demos.' at least, i had some (i'm hoping i still do). i sort of came on to them by accident. i have a sneaking suspicion that some/all of them are fake. by fake i mean that they weren't made by slowdive. amidst the batch i downloaded was a 'demo' of dagger from _souvlaki_. there's no way i'll believe this was recorded by slowdive. that is not neil's voice on the recording. it sounds like a poorly realized cover version. i don't think i listened to all of the alleged 'pymalion demos' because the quality was so poor and what i did hear sounded fishy (i do remember listening to an incomplete track called 'ambient guitar' like you've mentioned). i just checked and i still have three of the 'demos.' i will give them a listen and report back. i'll also find a way for you to hear them. |
Date: 10:18:03 P.M., June 30, 2001 Name: scottbot Email address: scottaaea@aol.com Comments: i revoke my skepticism. i listened to the demos today. i'm pretty sure the one labeled 'ambient guitar' was the only one i had heard previously. the demo called 'prautrock' is actually pretty good! the sound quality is on the poor side. i have another called 'changes,' which is less exciting although, the sound quality is noticeably better. today i was able to download a supposed 'acoustic version' of crazy for you from audiogalaxy. i haven't had time to listen to it as of yet. if you can get me a list of the pygmalion demos maybe i can track down the rest. i hope you're well, buddy. |
